Context

This Sportbook company had a powerful concept — a custom betting platform for casual sports fans.

But their MVP lacked structure, and the UX was unclear. New users were confused. Features were hidden. The product had potential, but the experience didn’t match.

They needed more than a visual update — they needed a UX rethink. We redesigned the entire platform from a user-first perspective, creating clean flows, interactive visuals, and a frontend that finally made the product click.

The challenge

Sportsbook platforms are usually stuck in the past—generic layouts, copy-heavy UI, and no real thought for user experience, especially on mobile. Our client had ambitious plans: a fast, responsive, and scalable betting interface that works for both first-time users and seasoned bettors.

But here’s the kicker: they didn’t want one template. They needed four. Each with a different tone, color scheme, and layout to suit their markets. Add to that:

  • A full-featured eSports section
  • Live 3D animations (VL Court) for real-time match visuals
  • A browser-based 3D Roulette game (which became its own case study)
  • Consistent UX across all sports, games, and devices

All under tight dev coordination and continuous delivery.

The story

We kicked things off in early 2023, collaborating directly with the client’s development team across Europe and Asia. They had a codebase partially running and wanted us to plug in full UI/UX design, front-end architecture, and interactive elements.

The collaboration was fluid—constant iterations via sprints, shared Notion boards, daily Slack huddles. While they focused on back-end logic, we handled all things design, performance, and usability.

By the time Template 1 went live, engagement jumped. Users stayed longer. The interface finally matched the modern expectations of their audience. And with new themes ready to deploy, their expansion roadmap became real.

Our approach

We didn’t just skin pages—we architected the whole frontend experience to scale. For each layer of the project, we broke things down into tailored tasks:

1. Multiple UI templates

  • Dark green/black high-stakes vibe
  • Purple gradient version with cleaner lines
  • Light template for casual users
  • Fourth concept built from scratch (ongoing)

Each template followed the same structural bones so they could be swapped without breaking the back-end logic.

2. VL Court 3D animations

  • Designed and developed 3D sports courts (football, tennis, basketball, etc.)
  • Created event-driven animations for live plays: goals, fouls, corners, ball out, etc.
  • Optimized performance for low-end mobile devices with fallback motion effects

3. eSports section

  • Full design system tailored to eSports visual culture
  • Real-time match listings and betting modules
  • Integrated with the main betting framework

4. Browser-based Roulette game

  • Built in Three.js + React
  • Entire gameplay rendered in the browser, no external plugins
  • Integrated with wallet login + guest mode (more on that in this case study)
Tech stack

We worked with the client’s preferred setup, which included:

  • Frontend: Vue.js, React.js, HTML5, SCSS, GSAP, WebGL
  • 3D/game logic: Three.js
  • UI animation: Lottie, GSAP
  • Asset management: Spline, Blender (3D prep)
  • Coordination: Notion, Slack, Figma, Git

We also handled asset optimization and export guidelines for mobile fallback.

Final results

This wasn’t just a project—it became a full design and development partnership. What started as one design request turned into a modular product ecosystem with UI flexibility, 3D immersion, and performance baked in.

Key results:

  • 4 UI templates live (2 used in current rotation)
  • 3D VL Court powering match updates in all major sports
  • eSports section launched and integrated
  • Browser-based Roulette game launched with 60+ FPS across mid-tier mobile devices
  • Avg. session time: +11m 23s
  • Code reuse for 2 spin-off games (65% overlap)
