The challenge

KOELIS, a leading innovator in prostate cancer diagnostics and surgical navigation, had an outdated multilingual website that didn’t quite reflect their cutting-edge medtech status. Their content was fragmented across different regional pages, SEO was suffering, and users had to work too hard to find what they needed. Sound familiar?

They needed a smarter, more elegant digital platform — one that could handle a complex multi-language structure without becoming a tangled mess. Oh, and it had to be lightning-fast, clean, and intuitive enough to make medical professionals and investors nod in approval.

From misdiagnosed UX to a healthy rebuild

This wasn’t our first time stitching up a broken multilingual healthcare website. But every project is different — and this one came with its own quirks.

KOELIS already had a strong brand identity and boatloads of content — but the user flow? Let’s just say it needed a second opinion. Our brief was to completely rethink the information architecture, modernize the UX, and build a backend in WordPress that would allow their in-house team to manage translations, media, and page updates easily.

We kicked off with:

  • A full UX audit and sitemap analysis
  • Wireframes and structure for four language versions
  • SEO planning with language switch optimization
  • WPML plugin setup for scalable multilingual control

The client provided German and English copy, while French and Spanish content were managed by their local teams. Our job was to make sure nothing got lost in translation — literally or technically.

Designed to scale — and be found

Let’s talk UX. We simplified the menu structure across all languages, added contextual CTAs for their solutions, and made room for expansion as KOELIS continues to grow.

We also:

  • Implemented a flexible page builder setup using Advanced Custom Fields
  • Built a language-aware blog archive and press release module
  • Integrated a contact system with region-based routing
  • Ensured all versions had consistent load speed and layout integrity

All design files were delivered in Adobe XD. The dev team used WordPress with a heavy focus on clean code, schema markup, accessibility, and future-proofing for ongoing updates.

Results that speak every language

The multilingual WordPress website for medical technology now ranks higher for region-specific keywords, with reduced bounce rates and longer average session times. Here are a few measurable wins:

  • 3x faster page load times across all languages
  • Bounce rate dropped by 42% post-launch
  • +66% increase in time on site (especially from Germany and France)
  • Scalable content management for 4 languages and counting

Beyond the metrics, the internal team now works efficiently across language groups — no more duplicated work or frustrating plugins.

Why it worked

This wasn’t just a multilingual WordPress site — it was a full-blown digital replatforming effort tailored for the medical industry. By keeping the interface lean, the architecture scalable, and the backend foolproof, KOELIS got a website that works for their global ambitions.

No Frankenstein patch jobs. No duct-tape solutions.

Just smart, scalable web design and development for serious medtech.
