A big product idea with a tiny online footprint

Three generations of South African tent makers had developed something special: a geodesic, modular, inflatable dome tent that could turn any patch of land into a home. Think ultra-fast setup, massive interior space, and rugged durability. It looked like something out of a high-end camping catalog, but there was a catch.

They didn’t have a website. Not a real one anyway.

Their online footprint was limited to a rough idea, some studio photos, and a moodboard full of links to brands like Tesla, Heimplanet, and Mattsleeps. They weren’t just trying to sell a tent — they were building a lifestyle brand from scratch. But that ambition wasn’t showing up anywhere online.

Their goal: a modern, scroll-driven WooCommerce site that would feel as premium as their product, run as smoothly as their tent setup, and convert curious outdoor types into paying customers.

That’s where we came in.

“We’ve got one product, one logo, and a bunch of Pinterest tabs.”

TheWesCape founders had a clear vision and a seriously unique product. But they needed help translating that into a functioning digital storefront that didn’t feel like a tech demo or a boring Shopify clone.

Here’s what we received:

  • A logo
  • Some product shots in a Dropbox folder
  • A Word document labeled “WEBSITE STRUCTURE_COPY”
  • Rough wireframes showing the sections they might want
  • Reference sites ranging from Tesla to chocolate brands to modular backpacks

So far, so good. But there were some real-world constraints:

  • They had just one product (a €2.000+ inflatable tent)
  • Their budget needed to cover both design and WooCommerce development
  • They were writing the copy themselves (eventually)
  • Hosting? Needed. Email? Maybe. SEO? Later.
  • Content had to be future-proof — they wanted to scale to multiple tents, stories, even blog content
  • And the vibe? “Modern, clean, outdoorsy — but not rustic. No nature clichés. No leaves. And the font should feel hip, not hippy.”

Challenge accepted.

A WooCommerce site with a clear story and zero filler

The tent may have been modular, but the website needed to feel like a seamless experience — from the first scroll to the checkout button. We knew this wasn’t about throwing products on a page. It was about building trust, communicating quality, and making it incredibly easy for a customer to say, “Yep, that’s worth €2K.”

Step 1: we turned their notes into a real structure

We started with their outline and reorganized it into a lean, intuitive site flow:

  • Home: hero intro, product showcase, inflatability video, modularity features, heritage story, Insta grid
  • About: deeper brand story, inspiration, and design philosophy
  • Product: full WooCommerce page with price, specs, video, features, shipping info, and FAQs
  • Blog: overview + detail templates ready to launch
  • Contact: form + basic company info
  • Standard pages: cart, checkout, terms, account login

This meant no distractions, no buried features, and no long-winded pages full of fluff. Every section had a job — and we designed for conversion.

WordPress design and development, done right

We built the site in WordPress, with WooCommerce running the shop. All layouts were custom-designed in Figma, then developed in WordPress for maximum flexibility. That gave TheWesCape team the freedom to manage their own content and products without relying on developers every time they want to change a word.

Here’s how that played out in practice:

  • Product storytelling: instead of a boring WooCommerce product page, we built a full landing experience — complete with specs, usage videos, zoomed images, and lifestyle content
  • Inflatability video: we embedded a short demo showing how easy setup is (because “inflatable tent” sounds weird until you see it)
  • Modularity: animated illustrations explain how tents can be zipped together to form multi-room setups
  • Heritage block: a short, visual story about the three generations of South African tent makers behind the brand
  • Call-to-actions throughout: strategically placed buttons to buy, learn more, or follow on socials
Key features that made this eCommerce site click
  • Built for one product — but ready for more
Although the brand launched with just one product, the backend is structured for easy expansion. Adding another tent or accessory? No problem.
  • Mobile-first design
The average outdoor enthusiast is browsing from a phone. So we optimized everything for mobile, from the product slider to the sticky CTA buttons.
  • WooCommerce done right
We kept the shopping flow smooth and distraction-free. No unnecessary upsells, no bloated plugins. Just clean design, fast loading, and clear shipping info.
  • Hosting and maintenance? Covered.
We host the site on a VPS with 3GB memory, daily backups, SSL, and full control panel access. That means no downtime dramas and no last-minute server panics before launch.

TheWesCape design in action

Want to know what a “clean product page” really looks like? Here’s what’s live:

  • Hero section with high-res product image and single call-to-action
  • Specs in an expandable layout (not just a dull bullet list)
  • Inflatability video embedded just below the fold
  • Modularity diagram with optional animation
  • FAQ block styled like an accordion, not a wall of text
  • Mobile-specific tweaks like sticky add-to-cart and collapsible product info
What we delivered

In short: a complete WordPress and WooCommerce site that’s clear, scalable, and distinctly WesCape.

  • Fully custom WordPress theme
  • WooCommerce integration for direct checkout
  • Hosting and email optional setup
  • Brand-consistent styling using colors, fonts, and layout logic from their design doc
  • Support for future blogs, products, and multi-language setup

We also made sure that if the team adds more content down the line — whether it’s a product series, travel blog, or embedded user reviews — everything stays visually consistent and easy to manage.

Result: a tent brand that sells with confidence

The final site feels like an extension of the product. It’s structured, bold, and just weird enough to stand out.

  • It doesn’t overwhelm you with sales pitches.
  • It doesn’t try to be clever with gimmicky animations.
  • It simply works — on desktop, tablet, and phone.

And most importantly, it makes you want the tent. That’s the job.
